Questions
What people ask before they write.
If yours is not here, write and ask. I reply within two working days.
People switch off when I present. Is that a content problem or a delivery problem?
Almost always delivery. If your content were the problem they would argue with it. When they switch off they have stopped hearing it, and that happens in the voice: pace, flat tone, no pause, endings that drop. I can tell you which one in the first session.
Is this executive presence coaching?
Yes, and it is the physical half of it. Executive presence is what a room concludes from how you sound and how you hold a pause. I don't do mindset work. I work on the voice and the breath, because that is what the room is actually reading.
I've been told I need more gravitas. Can that be trained?
Yes. Gravitas is mostly pause, pace and where the voice sits. All three are mechanical. It is one of the most common reasons people write to me and one of the fastest things to change.
I've done presentation training and I still lose the room. What is missing?
The instrument. Presentation courses work on structure, slides and stories. If you did the course and the room still checks out, the content is not the problem. The voice delivering it is.
Is this communication coaching?
It is the part of communication coaching that almost nobody does. A communication coach works on what you say and how you structure it. I work on what your voice does to it the moment it matters. If you have a message and it isn't landing, this is where it is getting lost.
I know the subject better than anyone and the other director still sells it better. Why?
Because the room does not hear knowledge, it hears delivery. The person who knows more tends to add caveats, explain and justify. The person who knows less says it with more pause, more certainty and a simpler line, and the room reads that as authority. It is not a knowledge problem and it is not a personality problem. It is a handful of mechanical things in the voice, and they can be fixed.
Do you work with women in senior roles?
Yes, a significant part of my individual work. Women at director and partner level who are told they sound too soft or too sharp, who get interrupted in committee, or who watch a colleague land the same point with less preparation. The work is technical, not behavioural. The result is authority without hardening and without becoming someone else.
Can you work with my whole leadership team?
Yes, and not as a generic workshop. Each director delivers a real three to five minute intervention, recorded. I analyse delivery and what the room does afterwards, identify two or three behaviours per person, we practise them in real situations, and record again to compare. Half day or a series of sixty minute sessions.
Is this public speaking coaching?
It is the part of public speaking that most coaching skips. Presentation courses work on structure, slides and stories. I work on the instrument that delivers them, breath, resonance, projection and pace, because that is what actually fails when you stand up in front of people. If you have done a presentation skills course and still lose the room, this is the missing piece.
Do I need a voice coach or a speech therapist? My voice is fine, my delivery isn't.
Then you need me, not a therapist. A speech therapist repairs a damaged instrument. I work with healthy voices that fail to deliver: the pitch rises, the pace runs, the endings drop, the pause disappears, and a ten becomes a six. If you have hoarseness, pain or vocal damage, see an ENT first. If your voice is fine and the room still isn't buying, that is exactly the work.
My voice is healthy. Do I need a doctor or you?
If your voice is fine in conversation, there is no hoarseness and no pain, and it only fails when you present, that is me. Under pressure the breath goes high, the pitch rises, the voice thins and by the end of a long pitch there is nothing left. That is mechanics, not pathology, and it is trainable. If there is persistent hoarseness, pain, loss of range or your voice breaks outside presentations, see an ENT or a voice clinic first. I will tell you in the first session which of the two you are dealing with.
What does an executive voice coach actually do?
Presence is the outcome. The route to it is the voice, not confidence exercises or body-language tips. Breath, resonance, projection and pace are mechanical. They can be measured, trained and changed, the same way a singer changes them. The work starts with a diagnosis of what specifically fails when the pressure rises, and then makes the correction permanent.
Can an adult really change how their voice sounds?
Yes. The voice is largely muscle, air and resonance, and all three respond to training at any age. Most people are not using a broken instrument, they are using an untrained one. The first session usually makes that obvious within twenty minutes.
How many sessions does it take?
The individual programme runs from six to twelve sessions. One session finds the problem and you feel the difference. Six is the minimum for the change to hold under pressure without thinking about it; twelve when there are several situations to prepare. Team workshops run from sixty minutes.
Do you work online or only in person?
Both. Individual work is effective online and most clients mix the two. Team workshops are better on site, though remote works with small groups.
Do you work with sales teams?
Yes. Sales and client-facing teams are one of the clearest fits, because conviction is audible and buyers respond to it before they respond to the argument. The same applies to luxury and premium retail, where the presence in front of the client is part of what the client is paying for.
Who do you usually work with?
Lawyers, fund managers, real estate and corporate leaders, sales and client-facing teams, in London and Madrid. Family law and litigation practices, investment firms, and senior teams who present to clients and investors regularly. If speaking is part of the job, the work applies.
How much does it cost?
By written proposal, based on format, number of people and location. Tell me what is coming and I will send you a proposal within two working days. Travel outside London is billed separately at cost.
I freeze, rush or go flat when I speak in front of people. Can this be fixed?
Yes, and usually faster than people expect, because in my experience those three are physical before they are psychological. Freezing and rushing tend to be breath problems. Going flat tends to be resonance. Once you can feel what your body does under pressure you can change it, and the anxiety tends to ease once the instrument stops surprising you.
I am a Spanish speaker in London. In English I sound less senior than I am. Can you help?
Yes, and this is personal. I am a native Spanish speaker working in English in London. In a second language the voice sits higher, the pace runs and the ends of sentences drop, so the room hears hesitation where there is none. You don't have an English problem. You have a delivery problem in English. I do not do accent reduction; I help your voice carry in English the authority it already carries in Spanish, and it is one of the fastest things to fix.
Do you help with Zoom and Teams meetings, not just rooms?
Yes. Video flattens the voice and removes half the signals a room gives you, so the technical problems get worse on camera. A good part of the individual work now happens on and for video calls.
Do you work in Spanish?
Yes. I am a native Spanish speaker and work equally in both languages, in London and in Madrid. Some clients prepare in one language and present in the other, which is its own problem and one I know well.
A board meeting, a hearing, an investor pitch, a promotion panel, a team that is not landing. No form and no discovery call, and I reply within two working days. If you already have a recording of yourself in a real meeting, send it and I will tell you what I hear.
