For law firms
Your associates know the law better than anyone at the pitch. The panel still picks the other firm.
In-house workshops for law firms in London. Each lawyer works on something real, a pitch, a client meeting or a hearing, in front of colleagues, while I play the client, the panel or the judge.
What happens in the workshop
Each lawyer brings something real. The opening of a pitch, the advice they have to give a client next week, a submission they are preparing.
I play the client, the general counsel on the panel or the judge. I interrupt, ask the question they were hoping nobody would ask, and stop them at the point where people would stop listening.
They do it again straight away, and the whole group hears the difference. There are no slides and no theory. Most of the time is spent on your feet.
Situations we work on
Client pitches, beauty parades and tender presentations. First meetings with a new client. Explaining complex advice to someone who is not a lawyer. Difficult calls when the news is bad. Hearings, submissions and cross-examination. Questions from a panel when the answer is not in the deck.
What usually goes wrong
The content is right and the delivery gives it away. The lawyer speeds up when challenged, the voice goes up at the end of every sentence, the pauses disappear, and the client hears doubt that is not really there. With associates it often shows as sounding more junior than they are.
Who it is for
Associates, senior associates and junior partners, in litigation and in transactional teams. Also partners preparing for a specific pitch.
Format
90 minutes or half a day, at your offices or remote. Groups of up to twelve, so everyone gets time on their feet. In English or Spanish. If there is a real pitch or hearing coming up, the session is built around it.
Recent work
Dawson Cornwell, one of the UK’s leading family law firms. In December 2026 I speak at the House of Lords, at the AIJUDEFA international family law seminar.
“It's incredible how dealing with clients or the courtroom can be like the art of opera. Julio's insights into listening, both to the music and the silences, were invaluable. We left not only with practical tools but with a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration for our work.”

Questions from firms
Do you run in-house presentation skills training for law firms?
Yes. Workshops of 90 minutes or half a day, at your offices or remote, for associates and partners. Everyone works on a real pitch, client meeting or hearing.
Can the workshop be built around a real pitch or tender?
Yes, and that is how it works best. Send me the pitch or the date that is coming up and the session is built around it.
Do you also coach individual partners?
Yes. For one partner and one specific date there is high-stakes preparation, and for advocates there is advocacy coaching.
Is it in English or Spanish?
Both. I work with firms in London and Madrid, and with lawyers who prepare in Spanish and present in English.
What does the firm get after the workshop?
Each lawyer gets a short written note with the two or three things to keep working on. Whoever commissioned the workshop gets a one-page summary of what I saw in the group and what I would work on next.
How do we book?
Send me an email with who the team is, roughly how many people and what is coming up. I reply within two working days with a short written proposal. There is no public price list.
It might be a board meeting, a hearing, an investor pitch, a promotion panel or a team that is not getting its message across. Just send me an email, there is no form. I reply within two working days and, if it makes sense, we have a 20-minute call. If you have a recording of yourself in a real meeting, send it over and I will tell you what I hear.
