Services / Your company pays
When your company pays
Your company may well have a budget for this. Most people never ask.
Many companies pay for one-to-one coaching for senior people, especially before a promotion, a new role or an important presentation. If you want your company to pay, I make it easy: a proposal addressed to them, the invoice in the company’s name and, if you want, a short summary at the end.
How it works
1. You write to me with what you want to work on and who would approve it at your company.
2. I send you a short written proposal addressed to your company: what we will work on, how many sessions, the format and what they receive. You forward it.
3. If they approve it, the invoice goes to the company and we start.
What to say to your manager or HR
Something like this usually works. Put it in your own words:
I would like to work with a coach on how I come across in [committee meetings / client pitches / presentations to the board]. It is a short programme of [six] sessions, online, at times that fit around work. I have attached the proposal. I think it would make a real difference in [the specific situation coming up]. Could it come out of the training budget?
Tie it to something real with a date: a promotion, a new role, a big pitch. A request linked to a result at work is much easier to approve than general development.
What your company receives
A proposal addressed to them before we start. The invoice in the company’s name. And, only if you agree, a one-page summary at the end with what we worked on and what changed. What we talk about in the sessions stays between us.
If they say no
“We already have a communication course.” Courses are for groups and general. This is one to one and built on your real meetings.
“There is no budget left this year.” Ask whether it can go into next year’s, or start with a single one-hour session.
For HR and L&D
If you are in HR or L&D and someone has sent you this page: I work with senior people one to one and with teams in workshops, in London, Madrid and online. I can send the proposal and fill in your supplier forms. Write to me at hello@juliocancio.com.
Questions
Will my company know what we talk about?
No. They receive the proposal, the invoice and, only if you agree, a one-page summary at the end. Nothing else.
Can my company pay for part of it?
Yes, that can be agreed. The proposal and the invoices reflect it.
Does this work for workshops too?
Workshops are always paid by the company. Have a look at workshops for firms.
What if I pay myself?
That is fine too. It works exactly the same, with the proposal and the invoice in your name.
It might be a board meeting, a hearing, an investor pitch, a promotion panel or a team that is not getting its message across. Just send me an email, there is no form. I reply within two working days and, if it makes sense, we have a 20-minute call. Or start with a free voice read: send me two minutes of you in a real meeting and I will tell you what I hear.
